Chapter 18: DARK SYMBOL



At the school....



At lunch break, Ian was watching his big sisters while they are eating at the canteen with Khay and Cedric.

"Why don't you join them?" Roe asked Ian.

"I can't, I told them that I always have my lunch with my friends." Ian said while he is going at the back of the school building. Then he sat on the grass under the tree shade.

"When will you stop lying about your fake friends??" Roe said.

"I just don't want them to worry about me. Besides, I don't want crowded places so I like it here better. It's peaceful and quite." Ian replied while unpacking his lunch, then he started to eat.



"Don't worry Ian! I will always be here for you! You will never be alone anymore." Roe said confidently.

"You are just bored at home, so you always follow me everywhere I go!!" Ian pinches Roe's little cheeks.

"That's not true! Aw! Ouch! That hurts!" Roe complained.

Ian just smirk and continued eating.

Suddenly they heard voices on the other side of the big bushes.

"I already gave you my money! What else do you want from me??"

When Ian and Roe take a look, they saw Ian's classmate and two higher grade level students.



"Haha! The Nerd is talking back to you now, Boss!" The tall student said.

"Hand over your bag, before I give you a taste of my punches!" the big student said then he acts like he will punch Ian's classmate.

"I just can't stand here doing nothing!" Ian wants to stop the bullying of the two students on his classmate.

"Ian, don't use your powers to them!" Roe reminded him.

The tall student is pulling the bag of Ian's classmate while the big student was about to punch him.

"STOP BULLYING HIM!!!" Ian shouted.



Ian's classmate sat on the ground while feeling weak and trembling with fear.

"OH! The FREAK suddenly appears!?" The tall student said.

The big student walked closer to Ian and intimidate him with his big body, but Ian didn't step back.

"Why would I follow orders from a FREAK like you?" He said.

Then the big student holds Ian's uniform and lift him up.

"Are you brave enough to fight me now??" The big student said, provoking Ian to fight him.

"No, Ian! Don't fight him!" Roe whispered to Ian.



But Ian's anger was building up every time they call him freak, making his hands release some dark aura.

Ian can't control his emotion; he holds the big student's finger then breaks it.

Once the big student let go of him, Ian pushed him to the tall student.

Then suddenly, Ian unintentionally uses his power and a portal appears under the two students' feet and swallowing them slowly.

"IAN NO!" Roe shouted to Ian, that made him stop before the two completely fell inside the portal and it disappeared making half of the two student's body buried under the ground.

"HOW? How did he do that?" Ian's classmate and the other two students look so surprise.



"WHAT DID YOU DO TO US YOU FREAK??!!"

"GET US OUT OF HERE SO WE CAN MAKE YOU OUR PUNCHING BAG!!!"

The two higher grade student said.

Ian noticed his hands are painful but he just ignored it and walked closer to his classmate.

"Are you alright?" Ian said then he offered his hand to his classmate.

"Don't – Don't touch me!" Then his classmate ran away from him.

Ian didn't understand the reaction of his classmate towards him.

Even at the classroom, his classmate that Ian helped can't even look at him.



"Is – is he afraid of me?" Ian whispered to Roe.

"I told you not to use your power but you don't listen to me!" Roe said in a mad voice then Roe flew out of the window.

Ian was about to follow her when the teacher came in and call Ian.

"The Principal wants to see you in her office." The teacher said to Ian.

At the principal's office, Yuriko asked Ian what happened but Ian didn't tell her about his powers.



"Those students are blaming you for what happened to them… We don't tolerate bullying in this campus, but whatever you did might put their lives in danger." Principal Yuriko explained, while Ian is just looking down and holding his bag tightly.

"I hope you understand, but I'm putting you on one-week detention." Yuriko added.

"But I just want to help my classmate and now you're putting me in detention?? THIS IS SO UNFAIR!!!" Ian said then he ran out of the office.



Roe saw Ian going out of the school and she just follow him at the computer shop near the city.

Ian always go at this computer shop after school or even weekends before they started going to Elementalia.

"Ian, you still have classes. You should go back to school." Roe said.

"What for?... With or without detention, I will never go back to school again!" Ian replied while putting his frustrations on his game that he is playing.

Then suddenly his hands hurt and when he opened it they saw weird symbols which look exactly the same.



"It – it can't be!... Those are the Dark symbol!" Roe was really surprised to see such symbol on Ian's hands.

"Roe explain it to me. Why do I have this symbol?" Ian asked.

"We can only see those symbol or mark, on the Deadly Sins body when they are in human form." Roe explained.

"Does that mean I am becoming a Deadly Sin? No! I don't want that to happen!" Ian is trying to erase the symbol on his hand.



"But that's impossible! We should ask your mother or your Ate Joy. May be they know what is happening to you." Roe suggested.

"NO! We don't have tell anyone!... I – I just need to control my emotions. May be that's the reason why this symbol is appearing." Ian said.

After they got home the symbol on Ian's hands disappeared slowly.

"See! The symbol is gone now!" Ian showed his hands to Roe.

"But we still need to know the reason why it appeared on your hand, so we better check the Libreta for information." Roe said while flipping the Libreta's pages.
