MIKOTO
"Congratulations, Nanami-sama", Onikiri immediately greeted us just after Kotarou left our sight.
"You we're able to secure a promise from Kotarou-dono", Kotetsu added.
"Kotetsu. Onikiri. Did you two come here with us?" Nanami was surprised to see them.
"Yes, we were instructed by Tomoe-dono to guard you." They replied and continued to float happily around us and joyously celebrating on their own. I can already see a little bit of their forms, remember?
"Come to think of it, where's Tomoe?" Only that time did the deity girl noticed that her familiar isn't with us.
"He said he's going to prepare for us to go back and then he disappeared just like that", I told Nanami.
"Urg! Tomoe". Her face turned gloomy. "I know it. He was quite in a bad mood at the ice cream shop..." Then she looked at the onibi children. "Maybe he sent you here to fetch us because he abandoned me and ran away"
"Hey, hey. And why do you think he'll abandon me too?! You're just being too negative!"
"Tomoe-dono went to get our ride", Onikiri assured her.
"Our ride?" She looked at the two confusedly
"The car", added by Kotetsu.
"Car?" Her confused looks turned to surprise.
"I wonder what car Nanami is imagining right now". With that in mind, I can't helped but laugh to myself.
Cough, cough. I feel hot and dizzy. I think I'm already too tired for today.
"Mikoto, you're amazing too", Nanami praises caught back my attention. "You see, I always felt awkward everytime I can't keep our conversation keep going ୧(' ▽ ' ;) ", she laughed while scratching the back of her head.
I giggled at his comment. "Knowing you, I'm sure you can still do it even without me. I just helped a little bit to make things faster because Tomoe is honestly worried you might skip your dinner if we take too long"
"Don't make up nonsense things", the familiar kitsune's deep voice snarled at me from the cold wind that suddenly whipped around us.
Despite the layers of clothes I'm wearing, I shivered at the cold but I'm glad to hear this usual Tomoe I know. Yep, not the sulking type earlier—though he's cute when he does.
"It looks like you are finished talking to Kotarou." Tomoe spoke while Nanami and I gasped in awe. Who wouldn't? It's so awesome to see it in real life! A floating carriage! So frikin' cool! And it seems like Nanami has the same thought as I am.
"Let's go home", he added. Nanami's attention was completely on the "car" he brought.
"Wow! What is this!" She asked while here face beamed in amazement like a child."I'm getting on, I'm getting on!"
The fox rolled his eyes annoyed, "This is Mikage's favorite car, the night fog carriage. It runs and weaves it's way on darkness so it can only travels at night." He patiently explained.
"Then please excuse us", the will-o'-wisp children of the shrine climbed aboard with ease.... since they can float.
"Uuuhhh... then I'll climb up too". I said but guess what? Of course I can't!!
I looked at Nanami darkened face; completely saying that she's unsure what to do. It's too high for her and she can't get on... and mind you, she's taller than me!
Wanna know how high the carriage is? Imagine this. The floor is as high as Nanami's chest. Remember, I'm just as tall as her shoulder.
So right now, I'm knocking my forehead on the carriage entrance.
I heard Tomoe sighed. "What are you doing, Mikoto?"
I raised both my hands since I'm pretty sure, only the top of my head is the part of me that's sticking out.
"Isn't it obvious? I'm trying to get your attention. Hoist me up. It's impossible for me to climb this high." I demanded.
I heard another deep sigh before I felt two soft cold hands pulling me up.
"Whoa!" In an instant, I was thrown on the wooden floor of the car(riage).
"Hey, what was that?! You planning to break my bones?", I complained at his rough treatment. ^-^ "Shut up. I helped you, right? (눈_눈💢) "
" (💢〃>_<〃) Fine! I won't ask for your help anymore!!"
"Nanami, hurry up and get on too. I'll start the car" Tomoe once more called for our deity, ignoring me completely.
Nanami still stayed there confused. "Ah, yeah... uhmm..", she replied with hesitation and embarrassment. She keeps trying to pull herself up to no avail.
"Here, Nanami. I'll help you", I lend her my hand which she gladly accepted. The only problem is....
.....it seems like I don't have enough strength to pull her up.
"Sorry", I whispered to her trying not to sound rude. "You're heavier than I thought. Thought I didn't felt it before when I was helping you climb a tree. Probably it's just a result of adrenaline rush kicking in"
Or maybe I just feel too weak today.
I don't know what does it looks like in Tomoe's eyes but he started to sound downcast once again. "But if you don't want to go back, you can freely stay here."
"WHAT!? NO WAIT! WAIT!!" Nanami was panic-stricken and did her best to push herself up.
I did helped and we manage to pull her up halfway through while Tomoe is speaking. "You... want to stay back here, right? In the human world...."
Nanami paused after hearing this. Her beautiful eyes looked like she has saw something never seen before that touched her soft heart.
"Hmrph!
*throws* *hits* ^-^ (o;・_・)ノ(💢⌣̀_⌣́)ノ ⌒┘ 💥( ⓛ ‸ ⓛ) ↑ ↑ ↑ ↑ Nanami Mikoto Mikoto's Tomoe sling bag
SMACK!
My bag got a clean hit on his head.
"Wha-!" The yokai fox was about to protest.
"I TOLD YOU TO STOP SULKING, YOU STUPID TOMOE!"
"Come on, stop quarrelling you two! Lend me your hands. It's so high, I can't get on." Nanami finally admitted she needs help while blushing.
She looked at Tomoe and her words surprised him. "Do you plan... to leave me behind here....?"
The familiar's face soften and approached Nanami. "You... are really.... so slow...", he mumbled while pulling her into his strong arms.
"Woah!" The shock made Nanami stumbles on her feet and the two lost their balance. She crashed right into him
"Fufufu..." I sat on one corner and covered my eyes with my hands; pretending I didn't saw anything but actually peeking in-between my fingers.
"Thank you Tomoe", she smiled cheerfully before she realized their position.
Right now, my friend, Nanami is awkwardly lying down on the stiff and frozen Tomoe.
"S-sorry!", she immediately backed up and flushed.
"...and you are really clumsy", Tomoe added with grumbling, hiding his reddening ears.
She then turned her blushing face away; not wanting to meet Tomoe's gaze.
He raised his hand while using the fan he kept earlier on his waist and the flying carriage started to gain its altitude. Eventually we found ourselves transversing through the dark night sky.
"Really", he muttered behind his fan. "You can't pluck the grass, nor can you get on a car. How absolutely ridiculous!"
Nanami, who is currently sitting right besides me now, glared at him while I, myself is I trying my best to avoid myself from squealing. They're just too cute to watch.
"Geez, he has foul mouth as always", she said with a thin soft smile on her lips.
"Uhuh, he was so rude and a jerk. But it's obviously you don't hate him", I whispered to her.
Nanami's eyes widened and looked at me but immediately recovered and nod.
"I don't hate him.. his hands.. Tomoe's hand", she answered honestly. Her warm cheeks pinkishly blushed once more.
I smiled back at her. "By the way Nanami, have you already made plans for tomorrow?"
"Tomorrow? Oh, right. I do have an idea", she remembered then she called her trusty familiar. "Tomoe, about Himemiko. I have a favor to ask of you"
He gave us his nonchalant look. "Fine, what is it?
Since I already know the plan, I rested my head on Nanami's shoulder and unawarely lulled to deep sleep.
