Mikoto Started Living As A Shrine Priestess Part 1

What happens during this world's in-between-episodes days are of course mysterious to me. I didn't think that it would be my living hell.

"NO! WRONG! Do it properly, you stupid girl! How can't you do such a simple task?!", Tomoe scolded me for the nth time. I was expecting another hit on my hand when I prepared the tea in the wrong way but instead, he just shrugged.

I should have known things will turn out like this when he suggested that I should start training too as a shrine priestess. He's so strict!

"I'll guide you" "I'll make you experience hell"

It's a trap!!

"Oh come on, your teaching me way too fast. I'm just a high school girl from a country somewhere in Southeast Asia that's nothing to do about brewing tea. You can't just tell me to brew a tea in a way you want without showing me how and then expected me to have the same ideas like you have on how these are properly done!" I protested when I can't handle it anymore and leered at Tomoe who just stared at me speechless.

There was a moment of silence... and I just realized something...

...so it is true...

"Hey, Tomoe (；￣Д￣) ", I called his attention and he sweat-dropped, fanning himself by his hand fan. "I appreciated how you acknowledge my intelligence...BUT DON'T ASK FOR THE IMPOSSIBLE!!"

Geez, this guy is unbelievable. He becomes gentle to Nanami but he's still ruthless towards me!

"How could I've known?" He defended himself.

Sigh~

"Fine, it can't be helped. So, can we start over again?" I went back to my proper place and gracefully prepared all the things needed for a simple tea ceremony. "This time, teach me properly and PLEASE, don't teach Nanami in the future the way you did earlier," I warned him and I think he agreed.

Our whole afternoon was spent in practicing for the tea ceremony while Onikiri and Kotetsu prepared for a simple feast tonight...and our darling Nanami slept the whole time. It was already dark when she woke up. At that time, everything is already prepared.

I gasped in awe when I saw Nanami's beauty shone brighter with her beautiful kimono and hair accessories specially prepared by Tomoe.

"Ehh? Is there a special occasion? (•ิ_•ิ)? " she asked us in a surprised tone when the shrine spirits led her to her decorated seat for a deity.

"Nanami-sama, this is a celebration for the returning of our deity of Mikage shrine and for formally making Tomoe-dono as your familiar as well as ordaining Mikoto-dono as your shrine priestess", the spirit children politely explained to her and I can imagine, with their bowed head.

I hope that by training my spiritual powers, I'll be able to see them both in the near future.

We started with a tea ceremony and ended with a happy feast mostly because it is Kotetsu and Onikiri who sets the atmosphere and Tomoe didn't said anything to ruin the mood. Though he still snarled at me from time to time, it didn't matter right now and I just let it slide because what's important is to see Nanami's precious smile.

Hm?

"What's wrong, Mikoto?" Nanami asked me when she noticed that something caught my attention from the outside garden.

"Ah, it's nothing", I assured her.

I easily got accustomed to my new lifestyle as a shrine priestess at Mikage shrine where the fragrance of spring drifts in the air. I woke up as early as the sunrise to prepare for Nanami's breakfast but found out that Tomoe is already ahead of me. The good part is that he did follow my advice and he prepared a well-balanced diet...and bought a new stove, yey~

"You can eat your portion before setting out to your duties", Tomoe spoke when he noticed that I entered the kitchen. "You still need to sweep the grounds and the stairs and clean the offering box after you had your fill", he continued enumerating all the works needed to do at the shrine, mostly about cleaning even though we don't have any visitors coming.

"I guess I'll just do a few and let him finish the rest just like yesterday", I thought greedily at myself.

After waking up, Nanami had a few more practice using her talismans but this time, she didn't overwork herself. She just spent the remaining time that morning at the inner shrine which became more liveable with a new television set.

"Nanami~ I have brought our breakfast. Let's eat together!" I set down the food beside her and sat down. "Nanami? It's bad for your health to watch TV all day", I reminded her.

"Hmmm... (￣～￣) I just don't have anything else to do. You and Tomoe take care of my bedroom, my meals, cleaning and everything else," she replied with her bored tone munching the meal I just brought.

" ┐(￣ヮ￣)┌ Well, actually he does most of the works. I only do the light ones so I'm pretty bored too. He said it's only natural since it is his duty as a familial", I said indifferently.

"You know, I feel like I've got to do something too...instead of just eating like this", then she sighed.

"Practicing your talisman and growing your divine powers, but then, you already finished that for the day, right? So, how 'bout studying?"

"Nah, I can't come back to school now since I bet that whole place already knew about my family issues", she started to brush the idea off when we were both distracted all of the sudden.

"Breaking news! The super-popular pop star Kurama has, shockingly, amazingly, incredibly reportedly transferred here to Ujigami High School", said a female reporter with a squeal.

"Hey, isn't that my school?" Nanami commented but when the realization hit her, she started yelling excitedly. "(╯✧▽✧)╯ Kurama is at my school?! Oh, right! I need to go to school!"

She hurriedly finished her meals, took her things and school bag and changed clothes into her brown uniform; all in a flash.

"Huh? Kurama?" I secretly asked myself while still watching the TV. "So we're already at episode two?"

If it weren't for his attitude, I honestly had a liking to this guy since he reminds me of Dark Mousy from my favorite anime in my childhood called D.N.Angel. Seeing his face on the TV, he looks quite more handsome than in the anime... but meh.

I was brought back to reality when I heard a commotion outside the room.

"How loud. What's the fuss all about?" I heard the yokai fox asked.

"Tomoe-dono, Nanami-sama suddenly said she'd go to school." It is Kotetsu who replied.

"Why are you stopping me anyway? Let go, I-I forgot that I had a proficiency test (ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ I need to go to school~ ", she cheerfully reasoned out.

"Where do you think you were going?" Tomoe stood at Nanami's way

"Uhhh... hehehe... School?" she sweat-dropped.

Thud-

I decided to come out of the room, wondering what was that sound but only found Tomoe sitting on the top of Nanami's back to stop her from leaving.

I laughed at the sight but tried to minimize it since Nanami hates it when I tease her too much.

"Let me go! Didn't you know about the government's compulsory education law?" She fought back.

"(¬‿¬ ) And are you sure that's your true reason is education or is it because of Kurama?" expose Nanami's plan.

"Guh" she cried.
