The corpses of the monsters were battered with blood. Their weapons caught my attention. It was unusual how their weapons looked more taken cared of than ours. They must have recently stolen them from their victims.
As I pondered, I suddenly felt a presence behind me. As I looked, there was a monster at the top of a tree. It was holding a bow and arrow, and took a shot at me.
I tried to evade it yet it still grazed me in the arm. Jella then quickly climbed up the tree and killed the monster. I might have sustained a wound, but it was a small price to pay for a delicious meal.
We regrouped with the others. Apparently, the monsters on their end fled upon sighting them. That meant that only Jella and I were able to secure some meat.
With the help of the others, we hauled all the corpses back to the caverns. Harus met us as we entered.
“Hey kiddo! You’re wounded!” Harus exclaimed.
“Yes. It is not deep. Do not worry about it.” I replied.
“No, we can’t have that! We need to have you treated right away!” Harus picked me up and placed me atop his cart.
Without even waiting for me to talk back, he bolted off. I thought that he was already fast the first time I rode his cart. I did not know that he could get any faster.
We went inside the cave where Georgia was located.
“Hey Geor-“ Harus greeting was suddenly cut off.
“What is that foul stench?” She shouted as if in a feral rage.
“Stench? I do not smell anything. Do you, kiddo?” Harus looked at me.
“No, I do not.” I answered.
“No! Get that kid away from me! Argh!” She fiercely scratched her head as she growled.
“Georgia! What is happening to you?” Harus went nearer to her.
“I said get him away from me! Just get the hell out of here! The stench! I can’t bear it!” The girl fell to the ground and wriggled in pain.
“What isss happening here?” Scalus arrived.
“Scalus! It burns! The scent! Argh!” Georgia’s screams got louder and louder.
Scalus’ eyes quickly inspected me. His eyebrows rose when his eyes wandered upon my wound.
“Horusss, take the child to the vacant ssspace at the end of the cavernsss. This isss an order.” Scalus calmly instructed.
“Sorry kiddo.” Horus picked me up.
Instead of putting me on his cart, he just carried me in his arms. He left the area without asking anymore questions. He ran to the deeper parts of the cavern until we reached the end.
Unlike the area where we lived, the end part was dark. It was also relatively colder. He put me down there.
“Sorry kiddo. I’m just doing as I’m commanded.” Harus uttered before he ran back to where we came from.
His figure became smaller and smaller, until I was finally alone.
The delicious dinner that I was expecting seemed to be distant.
