After the short battle, their bodies laid lifelessly in front of us. Blood stained my weapon. I also felt some of the liquid got to my cheek. It did not bother me. I was not sure if it was the same for the others.

They had their eyes glued on me while I stood before the slain enemies. They were obviously stunned, another thing that I could not comprehend. If they were regularly on patrol, they should be used to such sights.

It had me wondering as to what was different that time. Nevertheless, we still won without any casualties.

Roc made Jella carry his weapon. He then picked up three corpses and placed them on his shoulders. Waluf also carried one on his back. Bartz and I cooperated to carry the last body. My end was at the feet while he was by the head.

The way towards home seemed longer than when we were walking away from there. It must be due to the heavy load that we were carrying. I was already having a hard time even with Bartz’ help. I could just imagine how much raw strength Roc had who could carry three.

When we arrived, they immediately made preparations. They removed all of the blood by slitting them in their necks. Then they were chopped in tiny pieces and then placed in a large pot. Even Granma, Granpa, Harus, Georgia, and Scalus helped with the cooking.

As the huge pot boiled, the wonderful aroma from the meat filled the cave. Georgia added some herbs which enhanced the smell. It took a while before it was finally cooked. Granma gave everyone a bowl of soup full of the monsters’ meat.

It was apparent that I was not the only one who was allured by the smell. The others proceeded in consuming the whole thing after they got their share.

I just stared at the bowl given to me. Even though it was enticing, the green color of the soup was distracting. The greyish curly skin of the meat was also still intact. The smell was nice but not the way it appeared.

“You’re not gonna eat that? Then give it to me!” Bartz urged.

“No, I will eat.”

I then proceeded to drink from the bowl with my eyes closed. It was hot, yet it was extremely delicious. It was rich and savory. As I already knew that it tasted amazing, I immediately tried the meat.

I already had pork, chicken, veal, and beef. All of those could not compare with how scrumptious monster meat was. I think that was what Bartz was referring to when he said that it was addicting.

Not a long while passed and my bowl was already empty. I was not a big eater yet I could have another bowl of the delicious meal.

What I began to notice was that the others were staring at me the whole time. I believed that it was not out of the feeling of fear. It was not anger either. I was not certain what it is.

“Should I have not eaten that?” I asked.

“Of course you can, sweetie. We just did not expect you to eat a lot. There is still more of it, do you want more?” Granma forced a smiled.

“Yes please.” I gave her my bowl.
