“After three years of the Frozen Sand having no monarch, finally! A king is about to sit on the throne! How will this new king rule our land? And can he deal with the current crisis the late King Cairo and Queen Chepsu have left us?” a news anchor spoke while everyone is watching the televisions in their homes, offices, and businesses.
The eighteen-year-old Prince Ehiptia is anxious to be crowned as king, Prince Memphis is not in an excellent physical and mental condition so he’s not there to support him. Around seven in the morning he sat in his room, and his attending staff started to dress him in the traditional Frozen Sand attire. “Is this necessary?” The soon to be king anxiously asked. “Yes sire, this is the traditional and the national apparel of those who will sit on the throne. The process will take a while, but you will look the best for your coronation!” The senior attending staff explained. Usually, Prince Ehiptia wears his hair with his blonde bangs over his eyes, and locks of long blond hair on the side of his cheeks, then lets his burgundy hair flow on his back. Typical for a young man who is shy and timid mostly silent and observes through meetings.
The royal hairdresser brushed his hair up revealing the entirety of his face, but he was against the idea, he knows that altering one’s hair for a coronation is not part of the rules of coronation. He explained calmly to them not to do anything against his current hairstyle, however, the hairdressers convinced him to at least have some of his forehead exposed and leave some of the bangs on. The soon-to-be monarch agreed with such a compromise.
Although the future king approved the simplest design for his coronation garment, he was still left with fairly luxurious and grand-looking clothes which disappoints him. From his head, He wears the heirloom of the kings, a head amulet with precious stones attached to golden strings and small chains representing all the major cities of the kingdom. A pair of gold dangling earrings in the shape of a snowflake and dazzled with more gemstones, he wears a blue high-collar coat and slacks with golden trimmings representing the cold temperature, a wide golden collar covered with beads of precious stones and golden tassels hanging around the collar placed on his shoulders, an orange sash to represent the sand of the lands, on top of the collar, he wears his cape made out of purple velvet produced in the kingdom and sewn in the cape that drapes around his neck is polar bear hide gifted to him by a kind old lady who he helped during his military service. Over the fur, he wears a series of medallions made out of gold and jewels that bring discomfort to him due to their significant weight. He wears a pearly white glove and a series of rings on his fingers and on his feet, a pair of black handcrafted shoes customized to his comfort.
Most of the citizens agreed that kings and royals really need to dress lavishly in their gemstones and gold, but Prince Ehiptia thought otherwise. These riches cannot be only for himself and the royal family but for the people who worked hard for the kingdom to reach such economic success hence the simple design he requested in the first place.
Of course, not everyone is there to support him to sit on the throne. There are groups of rallyists speaking against the king on the other side of the kingdom, and royal guards are there trying to stop them from entering the castle. Once Prince Ehiptia got wind of this, he asked his squire to bring one of his guards to tell him what are the protesters are talking about. Once the guard arrived at the prince, he explained that they do not want another monarch to rule over the colony states even though they are already fighting for independence. He also explained that there are people who are hungry in certain areas of the frozen sand, especially those near the territory of the demonic class. Prince Ehiptia is very interested yet shocked at what the guard had told him, He thanks the guard and contemplates what else can he say for his first decree as king.
Nine in the morning rolls around and all the people are waiting around the temple of the Gods for the arrival of the soon-to-be king. A carriage pulled by two horses arrived and was followed by vehicles from the Royal Police and Guards. Everyone cheered as the carriage is passing through the vacant road to the temple. The carriage stopped in front of the entrance of the temple, the moment the door of the carriage opened, everyone is cheering louder for his arrival.
Prince Ehiptia stepped down from the carriage and proceeded to wave to his people and bowed to them in glee. He proceeded to enter through the doors of the temple and the high priest of God Tim is there at the other end to crown him. The priest gave his respect to him and proceeded to explain the power and the dos and don’ts of being a monarch, Prince Ehiptia knowing about this beforehand just nods in agreement. Now the crown is finally revealed atop of a red velvet pillow with tassels on each end. He is asked to stand on his knees and lower his head to receive his crown.
The moment the crown touched his head, a surge of unknown magical power flowed over his body, he felt like a bucket of cold water was poured over him that made him shiver. He acted as if it was nothing and stand back on his feet, and the priest offered him a scepter and a golden globe for his right and left hand respectively. He held such items facing the crowd, as the priest bless him and declare him as king; “The man standing before you, under the presence of the Gods! He shall be known as King Ehiptia of the Frozen sand! He will serve you with his life and bring honor and much more success to our country!” Everyone clapped and cheered simultaneously “Long live the king!” Such cheer can be heard around the Frozen Sand kingdom and even the rest of the world.
Now, everyone is excitedly and intently waiting for the king to show up from his balcony for his very first speech and decree. It was rumored that the new king prepared at least three decrees to immediately implement in the entire kingdom, so everyone is very excited to hear his majesty speak. Now, King Ehiptia felt very uncomfortable with the dangling jewelry and clothes, not to mention the heavy crown that was worn by his father and his ancestors, the moment he returned to the palace, he immediately took a bath and changed to his lighter clothes, only wearing his coronation ring, a pair of a very small silver loop earrings, a necklace gifted to him by their past mother, and the crown.
As he walks upstairs, he grabbed the piece of paper, not as his script but as a list of his pointers so he doesn’t get off track from the speech when he was about to approach the microphone, he heard the loud cheering from everyone. He happily waved his hand to the cheering crowd and they waved back at the new monarch, yet surprised by his simple attire to deliver his speech. Everyone went silent waiting for the king’s speech, what might be his plans for the future, and what changes and revisions he was about to make.
The king sighs in nervousness yet he approached his lips near the microphone and spoke; “My lovely citizens of The Frozen Sand, I am very happy for your warm welcome to me as your new king, things have been different since my father and mother unexpectedly left us. I myself didn’t know what will happen, so us the rest of us…” People solemnly nodded agreeing with the king’s sentiment. “However, after three years of a monarchless kingdom brings change, this awkward feeling of most of us having a king after three years for me is very understandable. I will not promise anything grand that I will not go through with, I particularly hate disappointing people and the feeling of it. So, I will make everything sweet and simple.” The king started.
“People of the Frozen Sand Kingdom, I have 3 Decrees before I sit on the throne!” He spoke loudly as he shows his three fingers. “One! Everyone working for the royal court and royal offices is required to show their books to the public, that includes me. This method will prevent corruption of the people’s taxes.” Everyone is shocked by his first decree, and people from his court are flabbergasted. “Two! We have developed a new royal website where people who need our help can send e-mails that the ministers and I myself will read. There will be collection boxes outside the castle for those who prefer using paper, it will be emptied twice a week for me to read. So, I will know the concerns and current situation of the citizens and help them as much as we can.” Everyone cheered louder some are screaming “Finally, someone higher who can listen to our plea!” even people from the far side of the Frozen Sand are happy with this idea. “Three!” The king shows his 3 fingers once again to the crowd.
“This is addressed for the colonies and lands under the Frozen Sand Kingdom Rule! I know some are happy to experience a monarchless government, and some are not, however, I would like to ask if you can give me a chance to be your leader. Please give me three years, Three years! To prove myself worthy as your leader. After exactly three years from today, send your representative, and explain to me why did you decide to be independent, and I myself will grant you independence the same day, the same hour you asked to be independent and free from the frozen sand!” Everyone gasps shocked by the confidence of the new king. His words are very strong and have a tough substance far from the shy and meek prince they once knew.
People protesting outside the palace paused, as they are surprised and shocked that the new king is actually listening to their protest. Of course, those who are in the colonies have their attention being caught by the king’s third decree. The media had been broadcasting the events in their entirety, as the king thanked his subjects and returned back to the castle, the news anchors have been about debates if the king’s third decree is the wisest decision he undertook. Let’s say the king stirred a bit of an issue between his council, people, and colonies.
King Ehiptia, however, knows how to handle reactions and bashers, all he wants is for his people to live a much more comfortable life just like him, it’s just his nature to give something he has to those who need it, that's comfort and stability.
The coronation of the new king!
