Good idea. 

"Interview format?", I asked. 

The concept was finally approved.

It is a typical Wednesday afternoon here in the Philippines. Mabanas dito sa lugar namin sa Batangas kahit mapuno. Nagbabadyang uulan pero 'di naman matuloy-tuloy. As I sat with my laptop, I look at the database of creators and think,

Ano-ano naman kaya magandang itanong sa mga content creators? 

How to reach out? 

Paano ba magandang set-up? 

As I ponder these questions in my head, I came to realize that this will be very hard. Challenged accepted na lang siguro? Q&A portion freestyle writing approach?

I messaged the first creator on the list. He is currently living with his family in Australia. My first question was...

Tell something about yourself in at least a hundred words 

Jeipi Oyams is a software developer currently living in Melbourne Australia. His daytime job has nothing to do with comic making. Since he was young, he loves to create comics that were inspired by funny comics and anime shows. After 15 years he got bored with his job as a software developer and decided to return to comic making. He is interested in shonen, comedy, action, fantasy, ecchi, and of course H anime stories. He is also one of the of developer of webkomph.com

Sumagot ng synopsis. Good start. Ayusin ko daw grammar nya. Continuing on with the interview as I enjoy the smell of my cigarettes and stinking di pa naliligo kili-kili.

Bakit ka po na bored sa trabaho?

Boring talaga programming. Mas interesting gumawa ng komiks lol. Pag programming puro lang codes, magiisip ka lang ng magiisip. haha. Sa komiks making, iisipin mo story mo tapos need mo isipin na andun ka sa mundong yun. Need mo makipag bonding sa character mo para makilala mo silang mabuti. Pag may challenge sila na hinarap need mo silang samahan para malampasan un.

It took for like an hour bago siya makasagot. Di pala niya na-realized na ini-interview siya. What a funny guy. He approved to continue. 

He said "Wala pa akong ahit or gupit, lol" Akala ata ni ser eh live interview. I think we need to properly schedule doing interviews. I made an email and sent in to the next person on my list in order to get a heads up. Nakaka-abala siguro ako sa ginagawa nila. I do hope so not.

Is writing comics your passion or just a hobby?

Passion. Eh sa reality mukhang nang hobby kasi may day time job ako tpos need pa ng time sa family kasi may dalawa na ako anak. Kaya konting oras lang naiilaan ko sa komik making.

My questioning was abruptly interrupted by people messaging me. Naghahanap ng work, mga need tapusin sa work, etc. Really need to schedule this to become a somewhat formal type of interview. Tapos wala pa ko sets of question na nakahanda. It is my fault for not being ready. Next time, will be ready na. Hirap pala neto. Maghuhugas na daw siya ng plato maya-maya.

Gaano po kayo kadalas maghugas ng plato? (weird question)

Simula dumating second baby ko. Iniipon nila lahat ng dishes maghapon tpos ako naghuhugas sa gabi. Oks lang may dish washer naman kame. Kaso need pa dn alisin ung mga nakakapit.

Have you ever thought of resigning your current job and continuing your passion?

Mahirap, dami bills, my binabayaran pa bahay, 30 yrs to pay lol..pero pag may makita ako komik making job na kikita ako ng sakto lang para macover expenses , bkit hindi. Na-imagine ko na ssbihin ko sa office. " my watch has ended" parang yung meme ni jon snow.

It is indeed hard to pursue one's passion and prioritize it over work. There are a lot of bills to pay as you grow old and responsibilities kept on piling on top of each other. I can somehow feel what he is going through. Kasalanan talaga ni Judith.

What are your plans for the future? (weird question again)

Ganun pa rin programmer pa rin. Mag-start ako siguro ng isang series sa webkom. Pinag-iisipan ko kung ung Butterfly Blade o yung MOBA theme na series. Yung butterfly blade need ng research (haha). Kaya siguro ung MOBA series siguro. Shonen siya na parang dota lol.

Medyo humahaba na usapan at nahihilo na din ako. As much as I would like to continue on with the interview, physically incapable, I am. Need ko na din maligo. Note to self: Schedule the interview and be prepared. And so...

Ah. drawing lng ng drawing. lol. Siguro ung message ko e dun sa mga gaya ko na hilig magdrawing noong bata pero naiba ang karera sa buhay. Wag kayo mawalan ng pag-asa. Pwede pa rin kayo gumawa ng komiks, praktis lang uli.

Yes. “Pwede na ako maligo”, I thought.
